The SCORE(S) leadership and development program is underpinned by Social Identity research.

Unlike traditional leadership programs, the SCORE(S) program develops the leader as part of the group they lead. It is the development of a shared team identity that is critical to success, rather than the development of the leader’s own identity.

The 5 phases of the SCORE leadership program

  • What is identity leadership? How does it differ from traditional leadership programs & why does ‘we’ matter?

  • What are my meaningful identities and how do they influence the group? What are the strengths and development opportunities for the group?

  • Building the team's unique identity. Developing key values, behaviours and a shared vision.

  • How do we become what we want to be? Developing shared goals, structures and rituals.

  • Are we becoming what we want to be? Keeping it on track. Key measurements of identity leadership and team identification are taken pre & post workshop.

Phase 6 is for teams who have gone through the SCORE program and are ready to elevate the role of the hierarchical leader to that of conductor.

  • Building on social identity principles, the final phase is to develop a shared leadership program which harnesses the power of the group. It is a bottoms up approach to identifying those members of the team who are seen by their peers to be leaders in different areas - eg. social, motivational, strategic. This process removes bias and acts a leadership development program for team members whilst elevating the role of the hierarchical leader to that of a conductor.

Identity Leadership Pillars

Measures of identity leadership and team identification are taken before and after the program to ensure the principles of identity leadership become embedded in the team culture.

  • Being one of us: Embodying the core attributes that make this group special and beng a model group member.

  • Crafting a sense of us: Building psychological safety and creating a shared sense of belonging. Co-creating core values and behaviours.

  • Doing it for us: Promoting and advancing the core interests of the group. Removing barriers and helping group goal achievement.

  • Making us matter: Curating structures, events and rituals that help team members live out the groups shared existence.
